Wright and Buquicchio Earn PrestoSports Women's Soccer Weekly Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named Geneseo's Lindsay Wright its PrestoSports Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week while New Paltz's Katie Buquicchio has been named the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Wright played a crucial role in the Knights 2-0 SUNYAC weekend, where they clinched the top seed for the postseason. Wright recorded a goal in the 7-0 win at Buffalo State and then recorded the lone goal in the 1-0 win at Fredonia.

Buquicchio helped the Hawks secure the fourth seed in the SUNYAC tournament by playing every minute of a pair of extra time games against Oswego and Cortland this weekend. The centerback played all 96 minutes of a 2-1 win over the Lakers. She then played all 110 minutes against the Red Dragons, scoring both the Hawks' goals in the 2-2 tie. Buquicchio currently leads all defenders in the SUNYAC in points and she's scored four goals in as many games for her team the last two weeks.
