SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named Oneonta's Michael Ortale Jr. its first PrestoSports Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the 2021-22 season.
Ortale, Jr. was the leading scorer overall in three wins for Oneonta to start the season. Ortale, Jr.'s high game was the season opener where he poured in 30 points in a win versus Hartwick. This past weekend, he helped lead the Red Dragons to the team title at the Quality Inn Tipoff Tournament. For the week he averaged nearly a double-double at 19.7 points and 8.7 rebounds. He also collected 17 assists, 5 steals and 5 blocks.
