SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) awards Geneseo's Ezra Ruggles and Brockport's Elijah Washington as its PrestoSports Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week.
Ruggles earned a pair of victories as the Knights hosted the Geneseo Quad-Meet on Saturday and Sunday. Ruggles swept the 800 and the 1,500, taking first place in both events. He finished the 800 in 1:53.34 and completed the 1,500 in 3:53.80.
Washington continued his climb to the top of the division III hammer scene as he set a new facility record and placed first with a throw of 59.81m on Sunday at the Geneseo Quad Meet & Multi. His mark is a new school-record and ranks fourth on the NCAA Division III outdoor national qualifying list. Washington's new school-record eclipsed the previous record of 59.76m which was set by Jake Basher back in 2007. Washington also added a fourth place finish in the shot put (14.71m) and a 11th place finish in the discus.
