Brockport Picked No. 1 in SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Brockport topped the 2022 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's lacrosse preaseason poll at the No. 1 spot as voted on by the conference coaches. Cortland was picked to finish second and Geneseo followed at No. 3.

The Golden Eagles 2021 post-season conference run brought them to the SUNYAC championship game where they fell to Cortland, 15-13, to finish the season 10-3 overall. Brockport won the league title for the first time in 2019 and will look to win its second crown in 2022.

Cortland won its 22nd overall women's lacrosse conference title in 2021. The Red Dragons went on to the NCAA DIII Tournament where they made it to the third round defeating Transylvania (18-5) and Rhodes (23-12), but fell to Messiah 16-12. Cortland ended the 2021 season 14-2 overall.

Geneseo will look to make history this season playing for its first SUNYAC championship title win. In 2021 the Knights made it to the conference semifinals, but lost to Cortland, 14-10, and finished the season 6-3 overall.

Women's lacrosse conference competition will begin March 26 and the 2022 SUNYAC women's lacrosse championship tournament will start with the first round games on May 3 (at #3 & #4 seeds) followed by the semifinals and final at the top seed May 6-7.
