SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Cortland teammates Lily Fox and Megan McGuinness have been selected as this week's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) PrestoSports Field Hockey Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.
Fox helped lead Cortland (4-0) to a pair of victories last week, recording seven points on two goals and three assists. In a 2-1 win at Rochester on Wednesday, she tallied what proved to be the game-winning goal late in the first quarter and assisted on Cortland's second goal late in the third quarter. On Saturday, Fox picked up one goal and two assists as the Red Dragons defeated Misericordia at home, 5-0.
McGuinness earns this honor for the second straight week after she posted a 2-0 record with a 0.50 GAA, 12 saves, a .923 save percentage and one shutout. In a 2-1 win at Rochester on Wednesday, McGuinness turned aside four shots. She then registered a career-high eight saves in a 5-0 home victory versus Misericordia on Saturday. For the season, McGuinness has posted a 4-0 record with a 0.52 GAA and a .905 save percentage. The Red Dragons improved to 4-0 on the season.
