SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has tabbed Cortland's Lauren Hopsicker and Buffalo State's Tala Abdellatif as PrestoSports Women's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week.
Hopsicker helped lead 24th-ranked Cortland (3-4, 1-0 SUNYAC) to a pair of home wins last week, scoring 11 points on five goals and six assists and adding one ground ball and three draw controls. In a 17-8 victory versus Western Connecticut St. on Friday, she tallied five points on two goals and three assists. Hopsicker then scored a game-high six points on three goals and three assists and contributed three draws and a ground ball in a 15-5 win versus Plattsburgh on Saturday in the SUNYAC opener for both teams. For the season, Hopsicker has totaled 22 points on 13 goals and nine assists with five ground balls and seven draws.
The rookie midfielder led the Buffalo State defense with three caused turnovers, adding four draw controls and four ground balls in Buffalo State's 11-5 victory over Alfred University on Tuesday.
