SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Cortland teammates Hannah Southcott and Carly Haegele as this week's PrestoSports Women's Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.
Southcott earned her third-straight and fourth overall SUNYAC PrestoSports weekly honors after she averaged 4.6 kills per set in a 3-0 week for the Red Dragons. Her 46 total kills for the week included 18 in a four-set win at Cabrini and 14 each in a home win over Misericordia and a neutral-court decision versus Stockton. Southcott finished the week with a .308 attack percentage (46 kills, 10 errors in 117 attempts) and also had 27 digs (2.7/set) and six blocks (0.6/set).
Haegele picked up her second PrestoSports weekly honor of 2021 after she recorded 57 digs (5.7 per set) during a 3-0 week for the Red Dragons. She posted 23 digs and three aces in a four-set win at Cabrini, 21 digs and three aces in a neutral-site sweep of Stockton, and 13 digs and an ace in a three-set home win over Misericordia.
