Cortland's Wright and Richards chosen for PrestoSports Weekly Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has chosen Cortland's Halle Wright and Lindsey Richards as its PrestoSports Softball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week.

In six games during the week in Florida, Wright batted .611 (11-for-18) with three doubles, two walks and 10 RBI and hit safely in each game. She went 3-for-3 with a triple, two doubles and five RBI in a 10-0 win over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, was 2-for-2 with a double, walk and three RBI in a 5-3 win versus Wisconsin-La Crosse, and registered two hits each in a 4-3 loss to Coe College and a 5-4 extra-inning win versus Rutgers-Camden. Wright also committed just one error in 20 fielding chances at second base with eight putouts and 11 assists. Cortland finished 5-1 in the six games in which Wright appeared.

In four appearances in Florida during the week, Richards allowed only two hits and one walk, struck out 17 batters and did not give up a run in 13 innings pitched. She finished the week with a 3-0 record. Richards started the week Monday by pitching a scoreless seventh inning to preserve a 6-2 win over Wesleyan (Conn.). The following day, in her lone start of the week, she tossed a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in a 10-0, five-inning win over MCLA. On Thursday, Richards entered the game in the fifth inning and allowed only one hit over the final two and two thirds innings and earned the win as Cortland rallied past Wisconsin-La Crosse, 5-3. Richards closed the week Friday with four and a third hitless innings of relief, striking out seven and not walking anyone, in Cortland's 5-4, eight-inning win over Rutgers-Camden.
