Giordano and Van Fossen Tabbed PrestoSports Baseball Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference has selected Cortland's Scott Giordano and Oswego's Anthony Van Fossen the PrestoSports Baseball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week respectively.

Giordano batted .500 (6-for-12) with two walks, three steals and six RBI in a 2-1 weekend for nationally second-ranked Cortland at the Johns Hopkins Baltimore Invitational. He started the tournament by going 2-for-4 with a steal and two RBI in a 9-4 win Friday versus fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins, followed by a 2-for-5 effort with an RBI in a 5-3 loss to 19th-ranked North Carolina Wesleyan. Giordano closed the weekend Sunday by going 2-for-3 with two walks, two steals and three RBI in a 7-1 win over MIT.

Van Fossen went six innings, yielding one earned run on a 3-2 victory over No. 1 Salisbury over the weekend. The Endwell native struck out five and allowed zero hits in his six innings of work. Baseball heads to Virginia this weekend for two games against Shenandoah and one against Keystone.
