SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named Cortland teammates Keirra Ettere and Megan McGuinness the PrestoSports Field Hockey Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.
Ettere helped guide the Red Dragons to a pair of victories to open the season, totaling 13 points on five goals and three assists. In a season-opening 12-0 home victory versus Russel Sage on Wednesday, Ettere recorded nine points on three goals and three assists. The nine points are the most by a Cortland freshman in a single game since at least the 1991 season and possibly in the history of the program. Ettere then tallied two goals as Cortland defeated Montclair St., 3-1, on the road on Saturday.
McGuinness posted a 2-0 record, 0.54 GAA and an .875 save percentage in a 2-0 week for the Red Dragons. She played 51:43 in a 12-0 season-opening home win versus Russell Sage on Wednesday and followed up with seven saves in a 3-1 victory at Montclair St. on Saturday.
